Dan Patrick’s Announcement

Sadly, it looks like Dan Patrick won’t be taking Bob Barker’s place at the big wheel on The Price Is Right. The Biz of Baseball is reporting that Dan Patrick will likely announce today that he is leaving ESPN, perhaps to start his own syndicated radio show. I’ll occasionally tune in to Patrick on ESPNRadio, but since he overlaps with Rush and now Olbermann is on there a lot, it’s usually not a high priority. I’ll miss Patrick as a Sportscenter anchor, but that is more nostalgia than anything else, since Sportscenter and BBTN have rendered themselves more and more irrelevant lately. Another blog reported that Olbermann is one candidate to replace Patrick on ESPNRadio.

  1. […] Update: It appears this likely will not happen. […]

  2. I would have been more than happy to see Dan stick around the ESPN Family of Networks and instead ship ‘ol Chris Berman off to The Price Is Right. I can hear it now…”your showcase price needs to go back, back, back, back, back!” He and rumored consideration Rosie O’Donnell would have been perfect together on TPIR – one could just scream with the audience for the entire hour and the other could terrorize the airwaves as host.
