Astros tied 3-3

Bottom of the 9th and the score is tied 3-3. Woody Williams pitched well, at least compared to some of his previous outings, going 8 innings and allowing 3 runs, all via the long ball. Hunter Pence ended the top of the 9th by throwing out Lo Duca trying to go first to third on a single into left-center field. Morgan Ensberg had a big 2-run double earlier in the game and a single with 2 out in the 9th. As Bill Brown said during the broadcast, it would be nice to think that he’s hit rock bottom, but I don’t know if he’ll ever be the hitter he showed promise of being. Then again, I would never have thought Wandy would be our second best pitcher this year and have just thrown a CG shut-out. Berkman is up to pinch-hit with 2 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd.Ugh,

Berkman couldn’t have looked worse. They brought in a lefty to turn him around and he went down on 3 pitches, flailing wildly at two off-speed pitches off the corner. Astros will try to get lucky with some more late-inning magic, but you have to figure the odds are in the Mets favor.
