Federal Judges

One of President’s Bush’s more successful achievements while in office has been the appointment of two respected, conservative jurists to the Supreme Court. However, he hasn’t been as successful at confirming judges to lower federal courts. Senate Republicans are making noise (again) about pushing Democrats to move on some of the president’s nominations. They don’t have anyone to blame but themselves, having squandered the opportunity to resolve this problem when they were in the majority. Still, any movement in this area, one in which a president can have a legacy that can result in immediate effects, would be welcome and long overdue.
