I’m very suspicious of this report. As the animal control officers in the story say, it’s bizarre. There are questions about why a dog would ever try to do this and even more, HOW? Not to mention the various, inconsistent stories that appear in press reports. I’ll be blunt. If this child was really sodomized, I think there was abuse by someone in the family and the dog is getting blamed like that mother in Houston who said her dachshund ate her son’s testicles. And even if the dog did it, it seems like there would have had to have been some weird abuse/past behavior for it to even attempt something like this. It’s horrible regardless of what happened. Check out some of the inconsistencies in the stories:
The mother told police that, as she was changing her son’s diaper, she sent him to the living room to get a new one. The child was alone for “only a minute,” she said, when the attack occurred. She ran to get him when she heard him scream, said Capt. Lawrence Eggert, Lockport chief of detectives.
Police said the toddler was in his home on Washburn Street about 2 p.m. Sunday when the pill bull attacked. According to police, the dog sodomized the boy.
“The initial assault happened inside the family residence and the dog became frightened when the mother screamed,” said Det. Capt. Larry Eggert, with the Lockport Police Dept.
The child’s mother watched as the child was taken outside, dragged by the dog. Neighbors rescued the child outdoors.
The mother told Lockport Police that she left her two-year-old unattended for a short time and after hearing the baby scream, she ran to see what was wrong.
When she got in the room, she told Lockport Police the dog had sodomized the toddler. The mother screamed, scaring the dog and it ran out of the house.
One neighbor told 2 On Your Side, she heard the mother screaming “the dog is raping my baby.” Neighbors ran to help, but only one man was able to get the dog and child apart.
Anastacio Castillo says “I tried to get the dog away from the baby, the dog was already inside the baby.” When the baby was finally free, he was visibly sick.
And finally, another blog post that shares my skepticism.
