Baseball and Hollywood

Last night, in search of a little taste of home I went to the Sports Cafe on Haymarket Street to watch the Yankees and Indians play the second game in their ALDS series. I found some ex-pat Americans online who organized a group and we held down a corner of the bar for nearly 5 hours. Because of the time difference, the game started just after 10 p.m. and because of extra innings it didn’t finish until after 2:30 a.m. Despite the overpriced beer and blaring dance music (the bar doubles as a club on Friday nights) we had a good time and saw a great game.

Towards the end of the night, someone looked outside the front window and noticed this guy leaning against the lightpole, watching the game through the glass. Apparently, you can’t get inside the bar after 2 a.m. even if you did play Toby on the West Wing.¬† After the game was over, a few of us went outside and introduced ourselves and he was very polite and talked with us for a while.
