The Lassie Experiment

The Lassie Experiment

A group of researchers, no doubt well-funded, spent some time simulating circumstances where the owner of a dog experienced some sort of distress, a heart attack or getting pinned beneath a fallen bookshelf, and observed the dogs’ behavior. In these limited circumstances, none of the dogs did anything that could be perceived as getting help for their owners. I don’t think my dog even knows I’m gone, so I’m not terribly surprised. Then again, maybe dogs are just smarter than us all and realized that it was all a setup and refused to be drawn into such a ridiculous farce.
